Dr. Renato Félix Bautista is a trainee at CH Kilger Anwaltspartnerschaft mbB, specializing in Physics and Medical Physics. During his Ph.D., he identified the need for a clinical ion-beam monitoring method and, as part of an engineering team, co-designed and built a silicon pixelated detector device for monitoring and detecting inhomogeneities in cancer treatments with ions, ensuring it met clinical standards. This detection device served as basis of a large medical device currently used in a in a clinical trial at the Heidelberg Ion-Beam Therapy Center.
As a postdoctoral researcher, Dr. Félix Bautista focused on improving the precision of experimental measurements of Linear Energy Transfer (LET), which describes how much energy a particle transfers to the material it passes through. He analyzed the energy deposition distribution of ions used in cancer treatments with silicon pixelated detectors, aiming to enhance the effectiveness and personalization of radiation therapy.
